So I've been working at a pre-school most of the week. And Thursday the chimney sweeper rocked up. Completely normal. We get that a lot when working in a kitchen. Stuff breaks and someone comes and fixes it. Anyway, I was in the midst of cleaning up after serving lunch. We chatted away as I always do when I have workers coming to fix my shit.
We spoke about my time in Phuket, work, bar girls, the stigma of Phuket etc.
He suggested I'd go back to school. I looked at him, probably with a funny face, and kinda laughed saying I'm too old to go to school. He stopped working and looked at me surprised and then he said "what?! You're like thirty if that so what's the problem?"
That cracked me up. In the spirit of being nice I did what a always do and I offered him lunch. The remaining soup and piece of my baked tomato/basil bread. He was delighted and took it with him as he needed to be somewhere else. We said bye, thank you and that. He left.
I thought nothing more if it. Finished my shift and I went home.
So yesterday....I went back to work did My thing and around lunch My work phone rings. I answered and it's the chimney sweeper. My first thought was that he forgot tools or something.
He started chatting away, he's quite funny I have to say. He said he loved the food and he expressed his gratitude. He started to ask about My work schedual next week and I kinda got a weird feeling this wasn't about calling to say -thank you for the food it was lovely. And yes, he invited me out for a drink. He thought I was such a lovely person to talk to and he wanted to talk some more.
I kinda froze up a bit. Didn't really know what to say without sounding like a right bitch. I was head spun by this call, I normally don't get lost for words.
I called my friend up and told the story.
It's quite funny is it not?!
Anyhoo... Today is Saturday and it's not your normal Saturday. It's Eurovision Saturday! YAY!!!!!
Glitter, dress, heels, champagne!
